Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir claimed on Saturday it had achieved a major breakthrough in dismantling the group after intimidation against social activists, political leaders, government agents and journalists, in multiple raids in the Srinagar and Poonch regions of the Union territory (UT).

Police said a group of five people, including the hub, ran a blog site: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that during the large-scale J&K operation, houses and properties in several locations, including Sanat Nagar and Raj Bagh in Srinagar, Batpura in Hazratbal, Poonch , Jammu and Hawal in Pulwama belonging to five people were searched.

“Armed with search warrants issued by the competent court, the police carried out searches of the suspect premises and recovered a large quantity of cell phones, digital storage devices and computer platforms. In one house, 32 cell phones, a tablet, two laptops, four hard disk storage devices, seven memory cards and a dongle were seized, ”he said.

The IGP said five people arrested were Nazish Yasrab Rehmani and Tabish Akbar Rehmani from Sanatnagar, Sofi Muhammad Akbar from Rajbagh, Peerzada Raqif Makhdoomi from Batpora, Hazratbal and Javed Khalid from Poonch.

“It should be mentioned that Kashmir was run by a militant white collar union whose task was to prepare a strategic roster of government officers, journalists, social activists, lawyers, political officials who have been assessed by the union for being responsible for undermining the overriding objectives of promoting and sustaining the militant agenda supported by Pakistan with the eventual goal of secession of Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian union and its eventual annexation with Pakistan, ”said the Kashmiri police chief.
