The Steelers kick off the 2021 preseason shortly after 8 p.m. tonight during the Hall of Fame game against Dallas in Canton, Ohio. This is coach Mike Tomlin’s first chance to see the action of his young players, with many veterans watching from the sidelines.

It’s also an opportunity for Tomlin to reflect on the roles played by some of the Steelers inducted this year. Troy Polamalu, Donnie Shell, Alan Faneca, the late Bill Nunn and Tomlin’s predecessor Bill Cowher will all be inducted. Tomlin says he appreciates the time he spent with Cowher.

Tomlin says the game will open the eyes of his young players to life in the NFL.

The coach says he can’t wait to learn more about his team tonight.

Tonight’s Hall of Fame game airs on WDAD, 100.3 FM and 1450 AM, starting at 6:00 a.m.

Yesterday, the Steelers placed rookie cornerback Demarkus Acy and tackle Anthony Coyle on the waived / injured list. Acy revealed on his Twitter account on Tuesday that he had torn his ACL in his knee. Coyle signed with the Steelers last year and has been in the active roster for three games.
