WooCommerce is widely used: According to its own information, WooCommerce has over five million active installs and, according to BuiltWith, is the leader among the top 1,000,000 ecommerce websites with 29%.

From a WordPress point of view, WooCommerce is a completely normal plugin that is best installed through the official plugin directory.
